1. Teaching for Tomorrow by Ted McCain- This book gives some very practical ideas on how to transform your classroom into a constructivist learning environment.

 

2. Time to Learn by George Wood- George transformed his school in Ohio and discusses how he was able to make his vision a reality.

 

3. The Right to Learn by Linda Darling Hammond-This book should be on the shelf of every educator who is interested in trasforming their school. It not only gives great ideas, it also supports these ideas with research.

 

4. The Horace Trilogy by Ted Sizer- These three books, Horace's School, Horace's Compromise and Horace's Hope laid the foundation for much of the reform movement happening today. They are all a must read.

 

5. Doc The Story of Dennis Littky by Susan Kammeraad-Campbell- This book tells the story of how one of the most inspirational educators today fought to transform a small and failing school in New Hampshire into a model of education which eventually became the first school of Ted Sizers Coalition.

 

6. The Big Picture Education is Everyone's Business by Samantha Grabelle- This book will change your life. Dennis Littky's describes his educational philosophy in a way that makes you want transform your practice today. A must read!

 

7. The Power of Their Ideas by Deborah Meier- This book describes how Debra helped to build New Yorks most famous school, Central Park East.

 

8. Smart Schools by David Perkins- David was co-director of Harvard's Project Zero and describes and gives examples of how and why school need to transform.

 

9. The Differentiated Classroom by Carol Ann Tomlinson- Carol describes why and how to set up a differentiated classroom in a way that makes sense. A great read.
